Program > Workshop on Personalised TV Experiences and Authentication Methods
Summary:
Watching TV at home usually means sharing the same TV-system between family members. The content presentation and user interface is not personalised and does not reflect TV usage and needs of a specific user. TV on a mobile phone allows a much more personal user experience - as typically it is used on a personal device. However usually content and user interfaces on mobiles are generic and not adapted to the personal needs of the users. Internet TV on computers also allows a user-specific way of usage, mainly because the authentication of the user is fairly simple on this device. The potential of personalising the user’s experience is huge and varies from recommendation of user relevant content to presenting user specific UIs. This workshop aims to explore ways of bringing a personalised user experience to interactive TV - on all various screens customers can watch TV on (set top box, mobile, etc.) Investigating this topic we will discuss the following questions:
Topics of Interest:
- Which user needs will have to be fulfilled to offer a truly personalised TV experience, and in what ways might personalization needs differ in the context of TV compared to other medias?
- How is cross-media authentication manageable?
- What dilemmas can be imagined when TV as a multi-user device enters the personalized sphere?
